A blustery snowy winter day awaited us this morning. Weather forecasters warned us all last week of the impending snow and cold temperatures. It is brutal out there. Of course, this is the day our snowblower start decided to die. Luckily, my dad drove up in this cold on his tractor and did 95% of the driveway for us. Bruce had to shovel out the last 5%. BRRRR.
I spent most of the day wrangling our wooden blinds to fit our windows. Yes, it’s taken me years to cut the blind bottoms and match the height of our windows. Being trapped in the house seemed like a good time to tackle the living room windows. Why, it took hours I have no idea but they are complete and I feel a sense of accomplishment.
At night, while we read I’ve been making a pot of tea for us. Actually using our teapot. Savoring… That one little step putting it in a teapot and pulling the cups and saucers is worth it when you have the time. So with that in mind, I thought it best to perfect my scone recipe. This recipe worked well and was a forgiving dough. I will be playing with flavors in the future but with this one I just used cinnamon.
