Spirited Mulled Cider
- 1 Gallon Apple Cider
- 5 Sticks Cinnamon
- 5 Cloves
- 1/4 tsp Nutmeg
- 2 tsp Vanilla
- 4 tbls Honey
- 1 Apple chopped
- 1 Bottle Makers Mark
- 1 Bottle Muscat
- Place all the ingredients on low in your slow cooker till it warms. I place glasses out with a ladel with the option of Makers Mark or Muscat to top off your glass. I don’t put the alcohol in the slow cooker for a couple reasons. I like the options for a person for wine or something more with a kick. I think an Apple Brandy would be excellent too. Why possibly cook off your alcohol in the slow cooker too. The final reason everyone can adjust how much alcohol they want for each drink.
Every Saturday, we host a Vintage Cocktail party. Once a month we discuss a book as well… Our little group is called the Bibliopiggies. September’s book was The Obsession from Nora Roberts. A nice little quick suspense read for the end of summer. The main character was a photographer and going through a home remodel – bonus!
Reach Organics, one of my design clients, supplied us with some of their delicious chocolate granola truffles. Dark chocolate wrapped around unique spiced granola… like ginger cardamom zest, raspberry vanilla burst, and cherry almond chunk.
The chocolates pair perfectly with cider and wonderfully with the maker’s mark.
Our cider recipe features vanilla and honey which gives it a deep flavor that makes it feel rich and smooth. Next month book is Lost Vintage by Ann Mah.
