Orange Scones

  • 2 cup Flour
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda
  • 2 tsp Cream of Tartar
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 2/3 cup Milk
  • 1/2 cup Shortening
  • 2 Oranges Zest


  • 1 cup Confectioner Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Orange Juice
  • 1 tsp Orange Extract
  • 1 Orange Zest


Preheat Oven to 425. Prepare baking sheets with parchment paper

    Add all the ingredients for the dough in your mixer. Zest two Oranges and add to bowl. Mix all ingredients until incorporated.

    • Roll out to 1/2″ to an 1″ thick depending on how big you want your scones. I did a 1/2″. Thicker dough will mean probably 6-8 scones. I used the top of a canning jar to make my scones. Simple and easy. Place on parchment lined baking sheets. Sprinkle sugar on top of them if you like. In the oven it goes for 12 minutes.

    Whip up the icing in a small mixing bowl and drizzle on the tops.
