Aubrey sat by the window a cup of steaming tea cradled in her hands as a soft winter wind rustled the trees in her garden. The world was hushed in a blanket of snow and Aubrey had been waiting patiently for this moment. A tiny slate-gray junco with a dash of white on its tail fluttered down to the garden’s edge. Its delicate presence brought a smile to her face a symbol of hope amidst the frosty stillness. Aubrey marveled at the first junco of the season.
