Celebrating 20 Years of Christmas Cards
This year marks a special milestone — the 20th Christmas card I’ve created since opening my studio, one for each holiday season. The 2026 Holiday Card features The Noble Henry, an intimate winter portrait painted in glowing oils and inspired by the quiet magic of the season.
Henry, our cream golden retriever and the gentle heart of the studio, sits both regal and relaxed, wearing a hand-tied Yule wreath draped across his chest. Lush evergreen boughs, red berry eucalyptus, and winter greens echo time-honored holiday traditions, while the background melts into soft, muted tones — the hush of winter light just before snowfall.
Painted Alla Prima, wet-into-wet in a single expressive session, the brushwork remains lively and intuitive. Fur blends into greenery, deep red berries glow against pale gold tones, and holiday symbolism is wrapped in the steady, soulful gaze of a faithful companion. Finished with Gamvar gloss varnish, the surface carries a gentle luminosity that deepens color and preserves the painting for years to come.
The original painting The Noble Henry is not available, as we’re keeping him as part of our own holiday décor to enjoy for years to come. Prints of this piece are available through Fine Art America for those who would like to add him to their home.
Inside the card, all three of our dogs make an appearance — Henry, Marigold (Golden Retriever), and Sawyer (Black Lab) — joyfully gathering greenery, berries, and ribbons as they run together to create a wreath. It’s a quiet story of togetherness, loyalty, and the simple joy of home during the holidays.
A heartfelt keepsake for sending warmth, comfort, and joy — and a celebration of two decades of holiday storytelling through art.
