A Father’s Day Card Inspired by the Trees That Teach Us
Some of my favorite childhood memories weren’t made indoors—they were made beneath trees.
My father taught me to identify trees by their leaves and bark -maples by their leaves and oaks by their acorns. Those quiet walks planted a lifelong appreciation for the natural world and became the inspiration for my newest foldable heart card, Rooted in Love.
The original artwork began as a gouache painting featuring maple and oak leaves, blossoms, seedlings, acorns, and samaras. Together they tell the story of growth—from seed to towering tree—and remind us that the greatest lessons are often passed from one generation to the next.

The card folds into a heart measuring just 3.25 x 4.25 inches, then opens into a 7.5 x 7.5-inch floral design revealing an original poem celebrating the warmth of maple and the steadfast strength of oak.
Every card is printed in my studio, cut on my Cricut, and hand folded one at a time. No two are perfectly identical, and I believe those small differences are part of what makes handmade work special.
Whether you’re celebrating Father’s Day or your father’s birthday, I hope this card becomes more than a greeting. I hope it becomes something tucked away in a keepsake box—a reminder that love, like trees, grows deeper with time.

Thank you for supporting handmade art and the stories that inspire it.
