When Bruce and I first started decorating our first home, we both developed a bit of an obsession with green-handled kitchen utensils. Maybe it was from watching one too many Julia Child cooking shows, which sparked a love for all things vintage in the kitchen. Or perhaps it was the charming, functional design of these utensils that drew us in. Whatever the reason, we’ve managed to collect quite a few over the years! Now, I’m trying to figure out the best way to display them. Do you have any suggestions? I’d love to hear your ideas!
Toddy Maker
Let me introduce you to the Toddy Mixer—my second one, actually. The first had an unfortunate mishap that left me needing a replacement (clumsy me!).
I found this one at the Salamanca Mall, and immediately thought it would be a cute addition to my bar. The green wooden knob was just an extra bonus! It quickly became my go-to for mixing mojitos and cosmos (I’ll have to share my special mojito recipe with you).
Only today, as I did a little research, did I realize that this little gadget wasn’t originally meant for cocktails at all. It was actually designed to mix malted milk drinks, produced by Maltop, Inc., right out of nearby Buffalo, NY—at least, that’s what the sellers on eBay claim. All I know is, it still makes a fantastic cosmo!
Some advertising of the malted concoction:
“Get one of these and you will join the army of millions of steady drinkers of Toddy. A food drink so nutritious, so well balanced yet so light, easily digested and quickly assimilated that you can go right out and work or play with new pep and energy…”
