A Nostalgic Brew

The one above is from my collection of antiques. I looked up the maker, and if it had a pewter hopper, it would be worth 245.00.

The Charm of Antique Coffee Grinders

There’s something undeniably captivating about antique coffee grinders. Their rich wood tones, intricate metal designs, and charming hand cranks bring back memories of simpler times. While I’m certainly not giving up my Cuisinart Grind and Brew for daily use, I have a soft spot for these vintage beauties—they’re just as delightful to look at as they are functional (in theory!). My antique grinder now sits next to my electric one, and while it doesn’t get much use grinding coffee beans, it’s still a treasured part of my kitchen. Its little drawer, once a secret storage spot for my childhood treasures, now holds my vitamins—a practical hiding place I remember to check when I grab my first cup each morning.

If you’re hunting for your own antique coffee grinder, look for classic brands like Arcade, Daisy, Elgin National, and Landers. These pieces can be real finds, especially if the labels are intact and in good condition, as that often raises their value. They’re not just grinders—they’re pieces of history that add character to any kitchen, a nod to a time when coffee was prepared with care and a touch of craftsmanship. So, even if you’re not ready to give up your electric grinder, consider finding a spot for an antique one. It’s like having a bit of nostalgia with your morning brew!

These are all from my mom’s collection—she has a real love for coffee grinders!
