There’s something timeless about a handwritten card — especially when it unfolds like a little secret garden.
This Victorian folded Mother’s Day card began as an original gouache painting in my studio, inspired by folklore florals, heirloom valentines, and the quiet language of flowers. Each bloom was chosen with intention: pink carnations for enduring love, roses for grace, hydrangeas for cherished memories, lilies for peace, tulips for joy, peonies for honor, daisies for purity, and sunflowers that always turn toward the heart.
@elizabethgleasonart This little Victorian folded Mother’s Day card opens like a secret garden. 🌼 Painted in gouache and printed in my studio, each card is hand-cut and folded with care—revealing a poem surrounded by sunflowers, peonies, daisies, tulips, lilies, roses, hydrangeas, and pink carnations. A tiny unfolding of gratitude, love, and folklore magic—made to be kept long after Mother’s Day has passed. Perfect for gifting in person or mailing with love. When opened fully, the card reveals a poem celebrating motherhood — a gentle thank-you wrapped in petals and verse. The folding style creates a surprise moment, expanding from a small square into a full floral tapestry, making it feel more like a keepsake than a traditional greeting card.
Every card is printed in my studio, then hand-cut and folded with care. No two are exactly alike, and that’s part of the magic. I love imagining these cards being opened at kitchen tables, tucked into gift boxes, or saved in memory drawers alongside letters and photographs.
The exterior features four folk-art hearts — a nod to Victorian symbolism and old-world charm — while the interior carries soft botanicals and poetry meant to linger long after Mother’s Day has passed.
Available in a petite square for in-person gifting or paired with a larger envelope for mailing, this card is designed to travel safely to mothers near and far.
This piece is part of my Folklore Tapestry Collection, a series rooted in storytelling, seasonal beauty, and handmade tradition. My hope is that each card offers a small unfolding of gratitude — something meaningful, personal, and quietly beautiful.
Because sometimes the simplest gestures carry the deepest love.
