A Tribute to My Grandfather
This year’s studio Christmas card is especially meaningful. It was created in honor of my grandfather, Merrill Coffin, whom we lost last Christmas Eve. His creativity and love of art shaped much of my own journey, and I wanted this year’s card to carry forward his spirit.
The design is inspired by one of my most treasured childhood gifts—a painted toy trunk he created for me in the 1970s. The original artwork from that trunk became the foundation for this postcard, a digital rendition that allows me to share a piece of our family’s story with others.
For many years, my grandfather designed and sent his own Christmas cards, often featuring charming line drawings of our family. It was his way of making the season personal, artistic, and heartfelt. Last year, I decided to continue that tradition myself, and this year’s card feels even more significant as a way of honoring his memory.
This Christmas card isn’t just another design—it’s a way to celebrate family, tradition, and the enduring power of art to keep stories alive.
Each card is more than a holiday greeting—it’s a keepsake that carries forward Merrill’s artistic legacy. And in that spirit, a portion of the proceeds from every purchase will go toward maintaining his website, www.theCoffinHouse.com, which serves as a digital home for his work and memory.
