A Card Inspired by the Quiet Beauty of Fall
Autumn has always been a season of reflection — a time when fields settle, gardens soften, and the landscape turns to warm tones of gold, rust, and amber. It’s the season when nature seems to pause just long enough for us to notice the richness of what surrounds us.
Autumn’s Grateful Bloom, part of my Folklore Tapestry Collection, was created to celebrate that moment.
This greeting card is inspired by traditional folk art and the storytelling language of the harvest season. The design weaves together elements often found in autumn fields and hedgerows — mums in bloom, curling leaves, ripe berries, pumpkins, and a regal pheasant moving through the landscape. Each detail was drawn and painted to evoke the feeling of an old harvest tapestry, where nature, gratitude, and folklore intertwine.
At the heart of the illustration is the pheasant, a bird long associated with countryside traditions and the changing seasons. Its richly patterned feathers echo the colors of autumn foliage, while the surrounding mums and vines create a sense of movement and abundance.
